I've transferred docments from a computer written in microsoft works onto a computer that only has microsoft word, i can't seem to open these documents. Help!

Try downloading open office @ http://download.openoffice.org/index.htm... It's a freeware that you can open the file in and save it as a Microsoft Word document.
you should change how the document ends....like lyly.doc to like something else it usually works or u can just download the converter from the microsoft word website that works too
right-click on the document(s) and select Open With...

Choose WINWORD.EXE or Word from the list.
